Is the concept of retirement selfish?

When our work has no purpose, then it’s hard to go through the motions to complete mundane tasks. Boredom with our jobs and bitterness at being controlled is what makes retirement so attractive.

How does the Bible define retirement?

The word “retirement” doesn’t appear anywhere in the Bible. Perhaps, that means God expects us to be productive during our entire life on earth.

Do you count your days or make them count?

The point of numbering our days is to gain a heart of wisdom — not necessarily a mind of wisdom. According to the Pulpit Commentary, a “heart of wisdom” means to reflect on the brevity of life so that our heart can be wise and understanding.

Why do seasoned citizens watch so much television?

If you feel burned out on life and don’t think there are any opportunities for you to be productive, try turning off your television for one week. Then invest the time in creating something or doing something to help someone else.
